Adamma Ajufoh, RN, is an assistant department administrator of Hematology/Oncology at Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center. Although she is now in a management position, she is still just as devoted to hands-on patient care. If nurses or staff members are busy, she will quickly jump in to start a chemotherapy drip, conduct chemo education, answer patient calls, assist members in filling out paperwork or perform wound care — none of which fall under her job description.
“As a manager, Adamma is not expected to perform patient care, but she gladly rolls up her shirt sleeves to make sure our patients are taken care of,” says Karen Sielbeck, Department Administrator of Hematology/Oncology. “Adamma is a terrific asset to our department,” says Lara Durna, MD, Physician in Charge, Hematology/Oncology. “She is 100% focused on doing what’s best for our patients.”
