Following a routine mammogram in 2009, Lonny Catalan was faced with a difficult truth: she had breast cancer. The news devastated her, but Lonny and family pulled together and to provide her with the support she needed to overcome her disease.
Lonny also felt that family support from her doctors at Kaiser Permanente. “Even though they really didn’t know anything about me, they made me feel like I belonged. They made me feel like everything was going to be okay,” she recalled. “I honestly knew I was in good hands.”
Lonny credits her care team and Kaiser Permanente’s connected system for saving her life. “Each little piece that [my doctors] did – they all saved my life. It was like a system put in place to assist you when you needed it the most.”
Despite her challenging circumstances, Lonny says, “I was able to go through this experience with ease.”
